For our 2024 Slingshot intern project, we developed a campaign for Kara Walker: Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated). With a tight budget and strict branding, we pitched two concepts that addressed the controversial exhibit.

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
Kara Walker: Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated) revisits the historical representations found in the two-volume anthology published in 1866, "Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War." Walker overlays solid black silhouette, bringing light experiences of racism that were often omitted or merely hinted at in traditional historical narratives.

WHAT YOU CAN’T UNSEE uses censored social posts and critic quotes to highlight the power of Kara Walker’s work by censoring the uncensored.
